David Wayne Spade was born on July 22, 1964 in Birmingham, Michigan. He attended Saguaro High School and Scottsdale Community College. He transferred to Arizona State University and earned his business degree in 1986. In college, he used to perform stand-up comedy at the University's Farce Side Comedy Hour.
Spade made his acting debut in 1987 for the movie Police Academy 4. His big break came when he became part of the TV show Saturday Night Live (SNL) in 1990 as writer and cast until 1996.
