Katt Williams is an American stand-up comedian, actor, singer, rapper, and voice actor. He had roles in several comedy films like the 2002 American stoner comedy film, "Friday After Next", the 2005 game show series "Wild 'n Out", "My Wife and Kids", and "Norbit". Williams also provided the voice of A Pimp Named Slickback in "The Boondocks", Seamus in the 2010 spy comedy film, "Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore", and in the video game "Grand Theft Auto IV" where he voiced himself.
Mica Sierra "Katt" Williams was born on September 2, 1971 in Cincinnati, Ohio. At the age of 13, Williams emancipated himself from his parents, moved to Florida, and worked as a street vendor to support himself.
Williams started performing comedy in his neighborhood in Cincinnati, Evanston. He moved to San Francisco, and honed his stand-up act delivery by performing in local night clubs.
Williams became an established comic in 1999, appearing on stage at the likes of The Ice House, The Improv, The Hollywood Park Casino, and The Comedy Club. In 2006, he starred in his first comedy special "Kat Williams: Let A Playa Play". He performed his second and first HBO stand-up special "The Pimp Chronicles, Pt. 1" in 2006.
In 2007, he was offered a movie which he entitled "American Hustle". The movie received a critical success, and made Williams as mainstream comedian. His second HBO comedy special "It's Pimpin' Pimpin'". After Williams had a four-year hiatus, he returned to stand up with his third HBO comedy special, "Kattpacalypse".
On December 2012, Williams publicly announced the end of his stand-up comedy career due to an incident, and three days later of his announcement, he announced he was coming out of retirement. In late 2013, William was in his "Growth Spurt" Tour.
Williams returned on August 16, 2014, with an HBO special titled "Katt Williams: Priceless: Afterlife".
Film and Television Career
Williams made his acting debut on the television series "NYPD Blue" in 2002. He appeared in the show series "Wild 'n Out" for several seasons, and gained notoriety. Williams has also appeared in the official music video for his Wild 'n Out colleague Nick Cannon's single "Gigolo" in 2003. He provided the voice of A Pimp Named Slickback in the animated sitcom "The Boondocks". Williams also appeared in several episodes of "My Wife and Kids" portraying the character of Bobby Shaw. Williams appeared as a roastmaster of the "Comedy Central Roast" of Flavor Flav.
Williams uses the Money Mike stage name when rapping for songs. In January 29, 2009, he released his debut live album "It's Pimpin' Pimpin'".
Williams was briefly part of the Nation of Islam while he was living in the San Francisco Bay Area. In the present days, he often wears a cross during his stand-up shows as a symbol of his Christian faith. Williams has a total of 8 children: 2 biological children and 6 adopted children. His son, Micah Stephen Williams is a best known actor for playing the character "Emmett" in the Disney channel, series "Good Luck Charlie".
On August, 2011, his performance at the Celebrity Theatre which took place in Phoenix, Arizona was ruined by an incident which Williams responded to a heckler. In November 2012, two live performances ended early due to Williams' controversial behavior, getting off the stage, and confronting a heckler. Williams has been arrested several times. In November 2006, he was arrested after a stolen gun was found in his briefcase. He pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor count of carrying a concealed firearm on December 14, 2006, and was sentenced to a three years' probation. He was arrested for the second time on June 11, 2011, in connection for an alleged assault on a tractor driver. Williams was booked into jail and was released at that same night on $50,ooo bail. On December 2012, he got arrested after he allegedly got into an argument at a bar in South Lake Union, Seattle.
As he is widely recognized for his work on the improv show "Wild 'n Out" and his performances in films he made an appearance, he has an estimated net worth of $1 million as of today, 2020.
