Rickie Fowler is a professional golfer who claimed the number one spot as an amateur golfer in the world in 2007 and 2008. In 2016, he reached a career high fourth in the Official World Golf Ranking after winning in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship.
Rick Yutaka Fowler was born on December 31, 1988 in Murrieta, California. He went to Murrieta Valley High School and Oklahoma State University. During his high school years, he posted an all-time course record of 62 at Southern California Golf Association (SCGA). He won the SW League Final during his senior year scoring 64-69=133. In the summer of 2005, he won the Western Junior but lost in the US Amateur. On October 1, 2007, he won at the Fighting Illini Invitational organized by the University of Illinois. He scored a 203 (70-63-70). In the same year, he won the Sunnehanna Amateur and Players Amateur.
Fowler won first runner-up in 2009 on the Nationwide Tour in the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Invitational. He turned professional after the Walker Cup. Playing at the Albertsons Boise Open on the Nationwide Tour marked his debut as a pro.
Fowler debuted his first PGA Tour event at the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. He tied for seventh. Followed by PGA Tour’s Frys.com Open at Grayhawk Golf Club, he finished second.
Fowler won the Rookie of the Year in 2010 over Rory Mcllroy as well as the U.S. Ryder Cup. He recorded his best score in July 2011 by finishing tied 5th in the Open Championship at Royal St. George’s. His winning streak continued when he tied for second at the WG Bridgestone Invitational in August 2011. He and Grame McDowell joined PGA Tour’s These Guys are Good campaign in September 2011.
Fowler got his first professional tournament victory in OneAsia Tour’s Kolon Korea Open in 2011. He gained his fourth PGA Tour victory at the Honda Classic in 2017. A four-stroke lead in the final round gave Fowler victory at the Waste Management Phoenix Open on February 3, 2019. He became part of the U.S. team that competed at the 2019 Presidents Cup at Royal Melbourne Golf Club in Australia.
Fowler dated Allison Stoke, an American track and field athlete and fitness model, in 2017. The pair got engaged in June 2018. They tied the knot on a beach in October 2019.
As of January 2020, Fowler’s net worth is $19 million. He earned his fortune from being a professional golfer and product endorser. He signed a multi-year equipment deal with Titleist in September 2009 as well as with Rolex.
Fowler, along with former US PGA champion Jason Dufner, decided to grow their hair for Mullet May. People noticed that Fowler’s hair is shorter in front and longer at the back.
